'shell game' plot to avoid big priest-abuse damages
January 22, 2003 - The bishop of the Bend-based Catholic Diocese
of Baker on Wednesday rejected as "outrageous and outlandish" charges by alleged
priest abuse victims that he recently incorporated each of 35 parishes, and now
seeks to transfer church assets to them, to avoid liability in a $60

Diocese claims that they should be able to function apart from state rule and
are upset with anyone that would differ and hold them responsible for aiding and
abetting a serial child rapist. The hierarchy continues to rationalize, to somehow
justify that their Canon Law entitles them to a free pass and sidestep
accountability. David Slader is a man of integrity and has stood firmly in the
pursuit of justice for horrific sex crimes that were knowingly committed and
